Dream as a Horse, Live up to Your Youth--the CUFE Business School Alumni Mentor Pairing Ceremony and the Second Career Development Forum Are Successfully Held

For seventy-five years, the torch has been passed down from generation to generation; and the seventy-five years are eventful years with spring blossoms and autumn fruits. On October 19, 2024, Central University of Finance and Economics ushered in the alumni homecoming day to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding. The Business School’s alumni eagerly responded to the call of the mother school and actively participated in the homecoming activities. Teachers, students, and alumni gathered together to reminisce about the unforgettable days and witness the glory of the mother school.

The CUFE Business School Alumni Mentor Pairing Ceremony and the Second Career Development Forum were successfully held at Room 104, Main Building, Xueyuan South Road Campus. Li Yuexin, secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, Lin Song, dean of the Business School and director of the MBA Education Center, Yang Zhongying, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, Liu Xiaoyuan and Chen Jinliang, deputy deans of the Business School, Zhu Fei, deputy director of the MBA Education Center and deputy dean of the Business School, Wang Zhimei, an organizer from the Party Committee of the Business School, teacher representatives, alumni representatives and current students, totaling more than 100 people, attended this event. This event was chaired by Yang Zhongying, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School. The MBA students Meng Qingwei and Zhang Wei were the hosts of the teacher-student pairing ceremony, and Jin Wei, an MBA alumnus of the Traditional Culture Study Club, presided over the tea ceremony for this ceremony.

In his opening speech, Li Yuexin, secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, extended a warm welcome to the alumni and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the alumni mentor to be appointed. He also mentioned that alumni were not only the pride of the Business School, but also the most precious wealth of the Business School. The alumni's diligent study during their school years and their unremitting efforts after graduation have won honors for the Business School and made positive contributions to the society. He emphasized that the achievements and experience of the alumni are one of the most valuable educational resources of the Business School. Besides, he had high hopes for this event, hoping that alumni can impart their experience and wisdom in the workplace to current students to help them better understand the society and plan their careers.

At the grand appointment ceremony of the second batch of alumni mentors of the Business School, Secretary Li Yuexin and Dean Lin Song issued letters of appointment to the alumni mentors and took a group photo.

Li Kan, an alumnus of the 2005 undergraduate class, delivered a speech on behalf of the alumni mentors. She gave her junior school brothers and sisters some suggestions for the planning of their school time from three dimensions, i.e. study, work, and love. Li Kan shared her career experiences and encouraged everyone to make a bold trial in the early stages of their careers. She hoped that all of them could be down-to-earth, instead of being over-ambitious. She emphasized that studying specialized courses is not only an exercise in thinking methods and abilities, but also a pavement for future careers.

At the subsequent teacher-student pairing ceremony, the students expressed their deep respect and gratitude to the alumni mentors through a traditional tea ceremony. Under the guidance of alumnus Jin Wei, a tea artist from the Traditional Culture Study Club of the Business School, and the hosts Meng Qingwei and Zhang Wei, the students served tea to the mentors of their group. As an organization dedicated to inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese culture, the Traditional Culture Study Club perfectly combines the etiquette culture with Chinese characteristics with the fine tradition of respecting teachers and honoring truth through the unique tea ceremony, presenting a full sense of ceremony to teachers and students, and opening a new chapter for the pairing interaction between alumni and students.

Su Yanxi, a 2022 undergraduate student from the Business School, spoke as a representative of current students. He first welcomed the senior school brothers and sisters back to the mother school on behalf of all students, and then expressed sincere gratitude to the University and the Business School for their cultivation. When talking about his study and growth experience in the Business School, he said that the education of the Business School and the exemplary leading role of his senior school brothers and sisters led him to win honors and grow up again and again, and strengthened his belief of serving the country economically. On behalf of his fellow students, he expressed gratitude to the Business School for their careful arrangements, which allowed them to access excellent alumni resources, helped them broaden their horizons, and enhanced their personal career abilities.

Su Yanxi Delivered a Speech as the Student Representative

At the 2nd Business School Career Development Forum, alumni Li Yan from the MBA Class of 2011, Li Wei from the International Business Management Class of 1997, Li Hang from the MBA Class of 2007, and Wang Yang from the MBA Class of 2009, as the keynote speakers, shared their career experiences and insights into their industries, and provided valuable career development suggestions for the students present.

Li Yan currently works in the finance department of 832 Platform, which is a national-level poverty alleviation e-commerce platform. The topic of her sharing is "Something about Finance and E-commerce". She explained the basic concepts of finance in plain language and emphasized the core role of finance in modern business. She explained the operation of e-commerce and the close connection between e-commerce and finance, and encouraged everyone to make use of the resources provided by the school and the times, to plan well, to learn professional knowledge and to strengthen personal competitiveness.

Li Wei currently serves at the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Zhongguancun Digital Port as an expert. The topic of his sharing is “A Brief Discussion on Industry Trends and Employment Response”. He viewed and explained the finance-related industries from an industrial perspective, and emphasized that students should develop their personal advantages to cope with the changing times and industries. Besides, he suggested students to position themselves accurately, choose a large platform when seeking employment, and develop their personal practical skills to respond to the changing employment environment.

Li Wei’s Sharing

Li Hang currently serves as the general manager of Dongfang Jiangxia Industrial Investment Private Fund Management Co., Ltd., and the topic of his sharing is "Preparation for Entering the Private Equity Investment Sector in the Primary Market". He firstly introduced the background of the Dongfang Jiangxia platform, and then introduced the terms in the private equity investment sector and related organizations to students, and encouraged students to take advantage of the internships to make bold attempts and make use of the alumni resources to improve themselves.

Li Hang’s Sharing

Wang Yang currently serves as the general manager of the Business Department of the Beijing Branch of the Bank of Shanghai. He shared the changes in the business development of modern commercial banks. He explained the operation mode of modern commercial banks, the development of modern banking industry and the modern commercial banking business, analyzed the development trend of commercial banks, and made corresponding career preparation suggestions to the students.

Dean Lin Song gave a concluding speech for the entire event. He highly affirmed the significance and effectiveness of the event, and expressed sincere gratitude to the alumni of the Business School for their strong support for the development of the Business School and the cause of talent cultivation. In particular, he emphasized that business students need to keep abreast of the latest trends and future development trends of the industry. This career development forum has built a good communication platform between alumni and students, which can provide valuable industry information for both the faculty and students. He hopes that students can face the development of the times and find their own career development path, and that the appointment ceremony of alumni mentors and the career development forum would become a new milestone and continue to play a positive role in the learning, growth and career development of students.

Dean Lin Song Delivered Concluding Remarks

After the appointment ceremony, alumni mentors had free exchanges with student groups. They conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the application prospects, thinking habits, and work directions of theoretical knowledge, around school life and career choices. The mentors answered students’ questions on some specific details and provided valuable suggestions on study priorities and future career choices.

Teachers and Students Communicate in Groups

In addition, the 2014 MBA alumni actively responded to the call of their mother school and took the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of graduation to organize a warm homecoming event. The alumni reminisced about the past and talked about the future in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, and expressed their feelings about the rapid development of the Business School and the ever-changing MBA education. At the tea party, the friendship among classmates became stronger in the fragrance of tea. The alumni chatted about the development of the Business School and the MBA Education Center and were proud of the school’s achievements. The harmonious atmosphere with happy laughters and cheerful voices contained the alumni’s deep affection for the mother school and good expectations for the future.

The Alumni Mentor Pairing Ceremony and the Career Development Forum marked a solid step taken by the Business School on the road of cultivating the business leaders and promoting the integration of academic theory and practice. These activities did not only consolidate the deep affection between the alumni and the mother school, but also build a valuable learning, communication and growth platform for the students at school. Through these activities, the alumni passed on their valuable knowledge and experience, and sowed the seeds of dreams in the hearts of the students, which inspired them to step into the future bravely and chase their career dreams at a firm pace with a broader vision. This event vividly embodies the Business School’s educational mission of “cultivating leaders with a global vision, innovative spirit, and social responsibility awareness.” We hope that all students of the Business School could become a vital force of the business community and the society after entering the society, and contribute new management knowledge to the country with their talents and passion.
